Purchased this exceedingly rare Swedish land rocket in Fresno in January 2015 had it exported here, but it mostly sat in my warehouse, so I thought I'd let someone else enjoy it. The first Viggens in 1999 were already impressive at 225 horsepower (@ 5,500 RPM) and 252 lb-ft of torque available at just 2,500 RPM all the way to 4,500 RPM. The engine is 2.3-litre turbo-charged 4-cylinder with 4 valves per cylinder. Maximum torque is available for 30% of the usable power band. In 2000 (mine) this was bumped up to 230 HP and 258 lb-ft of torque. In 1999 it was already able to beat the Porsche 911 Carrera in both efficiency of producing HP and torque per liter of engine displacement. In 2000 those improvements over the Porsche were 15% (HP) and 52% (lb-ft). Very, very rare, one of 738! Saab USA customer service was kind enough to pull the following data for me. Greetings, This is a great car! My dad likes to tinker with cars and found this one after it had been in a light front end accident. The accident was so light that the a/c system never lost its charge and the airbags were never deployed. This was about five years ago and the car had 42k miles on it; I have been driving the car ever since with no issues. A couple years ago I replaced the battery with a premium Absorbed Glass Mat battery (see picture). I have always changed the oil myself with Mobil 1 synthetic and premium filters and have records. The Continental tires are in great shape and have lots of tread left. And since this is the Aero model, it has most/all of the options! This car has spent most of its adult life in Florida and was either covered or garaged. The interior is in mint condition and was never smoked in--it even smells new. The front bumper cover does have some stone chips and there is a slight crack in the rear bumper cover (which I have covered with a small bumper sticker as you can see in the photo). Also, there are a few small dents in the hood. If you are interested in a set of Bridgestone Blizzak tires mounted on Saab snowflake alloy rims, these are available for an additional charge. If you are driving this car in a cold climate, you will love the heated front seats! I have chosen to sell this car because my dad has repaired a Prius and I am ready for a hybrid.
